Capital Projects in Progress

The Chapel of Reconciliation is at the heart of Augustana's campus. Built in 1981, the chapel is in need of renovation and expansion to continue to effectively serve all who enter it — a plan that includes a larger gathering space and multipurpose room, greatly expanding the flexibility and accessibility of the facility.

This forward-thinking expansion will require an investment of $5.5 million. To date, $3.5 million has been raised in gifts and pledges toward this goal.

In October 2021, Augustana announced that it will be home to the Viking Men’s Hockey program — set to take the ice this fall at Midco Arena. The hockey program, which will compete at the NCAA Division I level as part of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) — the first of its kind in South Dakota. The team will be led by Garrett Raboin, who was named the inaugural head coach in April 2022.

Thanks to a lead gift from T. Denny Sanford and support from Midco, Sanford Health and several other founding partners, Midco Arena will provide a first-class experience for both student-athletes and sports fans.
